What a Simple Invoice Must Include
A legally valid invoice only needs these fields — everything else is optional:
- Your name (or business name) and contact details
- Client name and address
- Unique invoice number (e.g. INV-001)
- Invoice date
- Payment due date
- Itemised list of services or products (description, quantity, rate, amount)
- Subtotal and total amount due
- Currency
- Your payment details (bank account, PayPal, etc.)
