Do Pakistani Freelancers Need to Create Invoices?
Yes — for several important reasons:
- Client requests: Business clients on Upwork and Fiverr often require a formal invoice for their accounting team
- Bank documentation: Some Pakistani banks and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) require foreign exchange (FX) documentation for inward remittances
- Tax compliance: FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) freelancer tax incentives require documentation of foreign income

What Currency to Use on a Pakistan Freelancer Invoice
Always invoice in the currency your client pays in — which is usually USD for Fiverr and Upwork clients. Do not convert to PKR on the invoice itself.
If you want to note the PKR equivalent for your own records, add it in the Notes section: "PKR equivalent at time of payment: ₨45,000 (rate: 1 USD = 283 PKR)." This helps with FBR documentation but the primary invoice currency stays USD.

What to Include on a Pakistani Freelancer Invoice
